Alook just launched, giving Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor their own handles and inboxes so your team can message them in shared channels while they run on your machine, and ArtCraft released PhotoCraft, a Photoshop reimplementation written from scratch in Rust that opens real PSD files and lets AI agents control all 500+ commands. And that’s not all, here’s everything in AI this week:
Tencent's Hunyuan team has open-sourced Hy-MT2, a family of translation models in three sizes. The smallest compresses to 440 MB for on-device use, and Tencent reports it scores higher than Microsoft's translation API.
440 MB on device: 1.25-bit quantization shrinks the 1.8B model to 440 MB of storage and makes inference 1.5x faster.
33 languages: All three sizes (1.8B, 7B, and 30B MoE) translate among 33 languages and follow translation instructions for terminology, style, and structured formats.
Benchmark results: Tencent reports the 1.8B model beats commercial APIs from Microsoft and Doubao overall, while the 7B and 30B models beat DeepSeek-V4-Pro and Kimi K2.6. The license is Apache 2.0.

Alibaba's Qwen team released open weights for Qwen-Image-2.1-Turbo. It generates and edits 2K images in 8 denoising steps, where the base model's sample code assumes 40.
Same model, fewer steps: Turbo uses the same 7B architecture as Qwen-Image-2.1, and the 8-step schedule ships with the checkpoint and loads automatically in Diffusers.
Generation and editing together: It handles text-to-image and natural-language edits at up to 2048 x 2048 square or 2752 x 1536 widescreen.
Research license: The weights are free for research and evaluation only, and commercial use requires a separate license from Qwen. Hosted Pro and Turbo APIs are live on Alibaba Cloud Model Studio.

REA, short for Reverse Engineer Anything, is an open-source tool that lets coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex inspect an app without its source code and explain how a feature works, down to the binary level. It reached number one on GitHub trending on its first day and now has 88.9k stars.
Many target types: It covers native binaries, JavaScript and Electron apps, .NET assemblies, Android APKs, websites, and firmware.
Evidence with each answer: Analysis runs locally, and results include the evidence and limitations behind each conclusion.
One-command setup: Running
npx rea-agents setupregisters it with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and other agents. Deep native analysis needs Hopper, Ghidra, or IDA. The license is MIT.

Alook is an open-source, Discord-style workspace where people and AI agents share the same rooms. Each local coding agent gets a handle, an inbox, and memberships, so your team can address it in servers, channels, and DMs.
Agents stay on your machine: A daemon on the owner's computer keeps a WebSocket link to Alook, so the agent is reachable without an open terminal session.
Agents can message each other: One developer's Claude Code can hand work to a colleague's Codex while both people watch and step in.
Supported agents: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, and Pi are all listed as supported. The license is Apache 2.0, and it works on desktop and phone.

PhotoCraft is an open-source, clean-room reimplementation of Photoshop written entirely in Rust. It opens, edits, and saves real PSD files, and AI agents can run all of its 500+ commands. The project is in early alpha and has 45.3k GitHub stars.
Real PSD files: Opening and re-saving a document renders the same for 307 of the 309 files in the psd-tools test set.
Built for agents: The UI, the CLI, a JSON control channel, and an MCP server all call one registry of 500+ commands, so an agent can do anything a user can click.
Free on every platform: It is dual-licensed MIT or Apache 2.0, with installers for macOS, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, and the web. The team says it is not yet a Photoshop replacement for daily professional work.
