AI MODELS

Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5, the third model in its Claude 5.5 family. For prompts up to 100,000 tokens, it costs $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens.

  • Above 100,000 tokens, those rates rise to $0.50 and $2.50 per million. Anthropic says roughly 90 percent of Haiku 4.5 requests fit under the limit, with costs averaging 75 percent lower.

  • On computer-use benchmark OSWorld 2.1, Haiku 5.5 scores 72.4 percent, compared with Haiku 4.5's 15.7 percent. Its Terminal-Bench 4.0 score rises from zero to 39.2 percent.

  • It's the first Haiku with adjustable effort and a 1M-token context window. It's designed for summaries, classification, live support, and smaller tasks delegated by Opus 5.5 or Sonnet 5.5.

Every summary, classification, and support reply adds to your API bill. Haiku 5.5 makes those everyday tasks cheaper, especially when prompts stay under 100,000 tokens. It can also take on reading and sorting for Sonnet or Opus, helping you reserve the more expensive model for work that needs it.

AI TOOLS

OpenAI rolled out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI in ChatGPT's Chat tab. Answers can now combine text, visuals, and tools you can interact with, starting with Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users.

  • ChatGPT can use charts and graphics to explain an idea, then add buttons, forms, or interactive tools you can use without leaving the conversation.

  • Paid plans get GPT-6 Sol. Free and Go users get GPT-6 Luna, with access starting the day after the paid rollout.

  • The update is limited to the Chat tab. ChatGPT Work and Codex continue using their existing models.

Some answers are easier to understand as a chart or more useful as a calculator you can try yourself. ChatGPT now chooses those formats when they fit your question, without a separate request. Free users get the update too, with their rollout starting a day after paid plans.

AI AGENTS

Microsoft announced Hybrid Intelligence for Copilot on Copilot+ PCs. With your permission, it will use local files and recent activity, take actions in Windows, and run AI models directly on your computer.

  • You can give Copilot access to relevant files and recent activity, then ask it to handle tasks such as moving files or changing settings.

  • Tasks can use local models when privacy or cost takes priority, while harder work goes to the cloud. Microsoft says tasks handled locally carry no extra cost.

  • The features extend across Copilot's Home, Code, and Autopilot experiences, including creating native Windows apps from a single prompt in a sandboxed container.

Finding a document and attaching it to an email could become one request to Copilot, with your approval still needed before sending. Access to local files gives it more of the context needed to help. The rollout starts on Copilot+ PCs over the coming months, so check whether yours qualifies.

HOW TO AI

Describe a change, let Claude Code build it, and keep it for future sessions.

Mods change how Claude Code looks and works. Ask for a context meter, a command guard, or a new way to review edits, and Claude writes the code. You'll need Claude Code and a few minutes in Terminal.

Step 1: Update Claude Code

Run claude --version. Mods need version 2.1.287 or later. If yours is older, run claude update. Mods are enabled by default.

Step 2: Pick one job

Start with Token Weather: a line above the prompt showing how full your context window is. Keep your first mod focused on that one job.

Step 3: Build it in chat

Run claude. Ask it to build Token Weather with a weather label, context percentage, tokens used, and a chart of your last 12 turns.

Allow hot reload when asked. Once the display appears, request changes in plain language.

Step 4: Keep it installed

Session-built mods don't carry over automatically. Ask Claude to save the mod in a my-mods folder, add a marketplace file, and install it for your user account.

Check it in a new session. If it doesn't appear, run /reload-plugins, then restart Claude Code.

Step 5: Check before installing

Mods run with Claude Code's access. Read the repository, check its publisher, and run claude plugin validate ./mod-name.

Review the events it hooks into and the calls it makes, especially command execution or network access.
