AI PRODUCTIVITY
Anthropic introduced a new way to teach Claude a skill by recording your screen while you complete a task, turning a one time demonstration into something it can repeat on its own from that point forward.
You record your screen while doing a task, talking through it out loud as you go, and Claude watches the entire process before turning it into a reusable skill it can run again without needing written instructions from you.
The new skill gets saved automatically and can be found under Record a Skill in the plus menu of the Claude desktop app, ready to trigger whenever the same kind of task comes up again.
The feature is available now on Pro, Max, and Team plans, meaning most existing paid subscribers can start recording skills today without needing to wait for a wider rollout or upgrade their plan.
Teaching an AI assistant to handle a repetitive task has usually meant writing out detailed instructions or building a custom workflow by hand, which takes real time and rarely captures every small step correctly on the first try. This lets you just do the task once while narrating it, and Claude figures out the rest on its own. For anyone doing the same multi step task regularly, spreadsheets, reports, routine emails, this turns a single demonstration into a permanent shortcut you never have to explain twice.

Google rolled out Gemini Omni inside Google Vids, letting you edit existing clips and generate personal AI avatars with nothing more than a simple text prompt, no traditional timeline editing required.
You can now edit an existing video clip just by typing what you want changed, trimming a section, adjusting pacing, swapping a scene, without ever opening a traditional timeline editor or learning editing software.
The same update lets you generate a personal AI avatar directly from a text prompt instead of filming yourself for every new version, saving the setup time that usually comes with recording fresh footage each time.
Google compared the entire process to sending a text message, meant to feel that fast and that simple, and the feature is available now on desktop for anyone already using Google Vids.
Video editing has traditionally required either real skill with editing software or a lot of patience learning one, which keeps a lot of people from ever finishing a polished clip. Turning edits and avatar creation into a plain text prompt removes that barrier for anyone who just wants a finished result fast, without a learning curve standing in the way. It brings a genuinely full video studio into a workspace tool that most people already have open anyway, no separate app required.
AI COMMUNICATIONS
xAI launched Grok inside Outlook, bringing email drafting, calendar management, and connectors directly into the inbox instead of requiring a separate assistant app running alongside it.
Grok can draft emails for you directly inside Outlook, without needing to switch to a separate app or browser tab, keeping the entire writing process inside the same window you're already working in.
It can also manage your calendar from that same inbox view, handling scheduling, rescheduling, and conflicts without requiring you to jump between your email and a separate calendar tool.
Connectors let Grok pull in outside information and tools directly from where you're already working, putting Grok inside a workflow most people already rely on every single day for email.
Most AI assistants live in their own separate app, which means constantly switching context just to get help with something you're already doing. Putting Grok directly inside Outlook removes that friction for one of the most used work tools out there, no extra window, no extra login. For anyone managing a busy inbox, this turns email and calendar management into something Grok can genuinely help carry, not something you're stuck handling entirely on your own.
HOW TO AI
Most frontier models have a knowledge cutoff. Grok doesn't work that way. It has a live feed into X and was trained on the platform directly, not just bolted onto it after the fact. Its DeepSearch mode runs that live X stream and a real-time web search at the same time, which as far as I can tell nothing else does. That combination is what makes the following seven approaches possible.
Stop asking what happened. Ask whether anyone believed it.
Web search tells you what got announced. X tells you whether the people who'd actually know are buying it. That gap, between the press-release version and what practitioners are quietly muttering to each other, is usually where the useful part lives.
Match your search window to the phase the conversation is actually in.
Any announcement on X moves through a few phases. The first day is mostly hype and guessing, since almost nobody has used the thing yet. The week after is when early adopters start posting real results, and that's the window worth reading. Leave the time window open and you get all three mashed together. Pin it to the phase you care about and the answer gets a lot sharper.
Narrow the query until it surfaces experts, not commentary.
A broad question gets you broad noise. Ask something specific instead, like what ML engineers have said about this exact behavior since this exact date, and you start hearing from people with their hands actually on it. The narrower the question, the more expert the room.
Use it to build a watchlist, not just to research one topic.
Instead of researching a topic once and moving on, ask Grok who tends to be right early in that space. That list of names is worth more than any single session, because it makes every session after it better.
Go looking for the disagreement, not the consensus.
Expert pushback tends to get buried, because the algorithm rewards agreement and people mostly agree with each other. But that pushback is often where the truth sits before everyone else catches up. Since Grok is trained on X directly, it'll still surface it.
Turn public complaints into free market research.
X is full of raw griping about products that never shows up in a proper review. Search for what people are frustrated by, what they wish existed, what they switched to and why. A few years ago you'd have paid for a social listening tool to get this. Now it's a single query.
Anchor to an event, not a time span.
"The past three weeks" is an arbitrary slice of the calendar. "Since the Grok 4.5 launch on July 8" is tied to something that actually happened. Anchor to the event and the results reflect how people reacted to that specific moment, instead of whatever fell inside a random window.
The two-tool stack that ties it together.
Grok finds, Claude writes it up. Hand Grok's raw output to Claude with a clear brief and you get current, messy intelligence turned into something structured and readable. Neither one does both jobs well on its own.
